how do you find the prime factors and factors
i know how to do factor trees.
i think prime factors are the ones at the bottom of prime factor trees like for example if u had 36 the bottom would say 2x3x2x3 if you did 6 times 6 which the next step is 2x3

so you're saying the prime factor is
2x3x2x3 which equals 36 <-- so that is the answerwhich explains why prime factors can only divide into one and itself?

You are absolutely correct.

FACTORS are two numbers that when multiplied together, result in the desired answer.

PRIME FACTORS are the series of prime numbers you would have to multiply to get the same answer.

Prime factors are just factors that are also prime numbers. So 3 is a prime factor of 12 while 6 is just a factor of it.

Lets take 24 the factors are
1,2,3,4,6,8,12 and 24
the prime factors are the prime number of those
2 and 3 are prime factors because they are prime numbers

prime factors are the factors at the bottom of the factor tree, youre right. theyre the factors that are prime and dont have any factors of their own besides 1 and themselves.

A factor is any number which divides evenly into another.
Prime factors can only be divided by themselves & one.
