If you throw it in the street...be sure to tell me what street lol j/k.

Ok, first thing, check if the Wireless feature is ON, usually it's a button in the upper part of the keyboard, if not, look for a button with an Antenna icon on it.

Second, try to reinstall the WiFi drivers in order to get the Laptop working WiFi again.

Third, in the Netgear's setup, see if that laptop is beign recognised by the router. If you're using a MAC address (Physical wifi card address) see if the Netgear is recognizing it.

dave, I cannot find that model number on netgear's site.... Is it a router?

If you had your system connected to the other laptop you probably had ICS, Internet Connection Sharing, setup on it and created an ad-hoc wireless network between the pc's. Try that or email me back with more info...

There should be a small button on the back of the router. Press this button (you might want to hold it for a second or two) and release. This resets the router to factory defaults. The default username is usually admin and the password is password.

Have you tried running the wireless network set up wizard?.... by cleaning the laptop the way you have you have deleted all your network settings, so you need to start again from scratch.
