Ok so we got three goldfish on sunday for my little brothers bday present. Sadly, one dies overnight, but the other two are doing well. We found something floating in the bowk that looked like a piece of white straw, but it is most likely eggs. So, I was wondering, is it worth keeping them? How many will hatch and will the pet store take them if we can't find home? And what will need to be done to keep them alive?

well, if you just got these goldies, believe me, they won't be breeding yet, they're not mature enough until they're about 1-2 years old before they actually breed

And also, a bowl is way to small for just one goldie, not even talk about 3

you will need to get yourself a 20 right away, or you will loose the other 2 as well, they need oxygen to survive, and only a filter can provide that

Hope that helps
Good luck

Well first off goldfish cannot breed in a bowl, a bowl is not even suitable for goldfish since they need oxygen and the waste they produce is way to much for a bowl to handle.

They will only breed in a tank of 100g or a pond, both need to have mud and plants for them to attempt to lay eggs. Most likely the thing you found was fish poop that is some how deform either from internal parasites or a disease.

I would get the goldfish out of the bowl since they will die from ammonia and buy atleast a 10g tank that cost around $10, with a cheap filter that also cost $10.

Well if you want the babies to live when they hatch move to different tank and when they get bigger you can see them to the pet shop or keep them
