Do we all have any rights that every human shares? We don't even have the right to life because of abortion and murder. What should every human have the right to?

It all depends on how you look at things. You're always going to have someone who doesn't agree with your opinion or agree with certain rights. For example you said 'don't even have the right to life because of abortion'. That statement obviously means you don't agree with abortion, but did you look at it like this. What if someone is raped and becomes pregnant or is a victim of incest. Do you still agree with abortion then? That is why it is so hard to just give off rights that we should all have, because everyone has different opinions and feelings about certain subjects, everybody isn't going to agree with one way. Then you're going to have things like for example a teenager that is about 13 years of age being pregnant. You would probably have the opinion of 'Well she shouldn't of had sex at such an early age, so she must deal with her choice, she could always give the baby up for adoption'. Then others would have the opinion of 'She is obviously not ready to be a mother, being a child herself, her body is too young to bear a child, and an abortion is an appropriate option for her.' Now some would have the opinion of you should have the right to in certain situations (incest, rape), but not in others. Then you have some that would be completely against it period and then others who think its your body, you should have the choice.
So to name rights every human should have would be hard to do, considering everyone's opinons differ.

Rights are established by laws. U.S. citizens rights, for example, have their origin in the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. Additional rights are granted via various federal, state and local laws.

However, there is no worldwide entity to bestow rights upon all humans, much less to enforce them.

So, no, there is no such thing as basic human rights. However, most people can agree on certain ways that all humans should be treated. But since there is no way to implement and enforce those codes of behavior, they fall under the heading of something like "common decency" rather than "rights".

And before someone mentions that God bestows rights on people, I would point out that regardless of whether he does or doesn't they aren't universaly agreed upon and enforceable on Earth so from a "rights" standpoint they are meaningless.

So the short answer is humans do not have any basic rights.

There are no innate rights in simply existing. "Rights" are a human creation and so your question might be directed to those around you as it is their agreement on what your rights are that will matter in your life.

When you post that question in a global forum, the majority of what you get will be philosophical with no practical use for you personally or moot because these people are not near you or able to affect those rights in the society around you.

If your question is intended to be philosophical in nature: The right to live as they choose and in peace, so long as those choices do not take away the choices of others to have those things. It gets more complicated from there.

Your statement about abortion and murder is assinine and clouds anything else you might ask or intend in your question. Best to stick to the questions.

As they say, "You can say nothing and let them think you're an idiot/***/jerk/whatever. Or you can open your mouth and confirm it."

That is a childish statement "We dont even have the right to life because of abortion and murder."

what does that even mean technically?

Human rights in two sentences (or at least common decency):

Everyone is an Individual.
Treat others like you want to be treated.

Ted, there are rights and there are priviledges.

We, in the United States have many rights, but if you don't know them you don't have any, so I'm glad you asked the question.

It is a priviledge to drive a car. You have the right to pray, bear arms, freedom of speech, as our constitution states.

You can go to any church you want to. There are laws we have to abide by but the law is for the lawless. If you do what is right and decent you will be a good citizen.

As far as being able to breathe that should go without saying.

Abortion is a heavily debated issue, as you notice in the elections. The Repulicans platform was they do not accept abortion. It used to be illegal , but now its used as a form of birth control. There are many that will fight for the life of that little baby. Sounds like you would and I commend you for it.

As part of the basic biological cycle, nothing is guaranteed- not even life (as you so stated). People from free, Western Cultures may say "life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness" but only those who are willing to pursue happiness, or fight for life & liberty may be granted such a life.

Think about the animal kingdom- nothing is guaranteed. They have to look for food, find shelter from the environment and defend themselves when attacked. We are no different, it's just that we are capable of thinking and have convinced ourselves that we are greater than the ecosystem that surrounds us.

My opinion?
There is only one basic human right.
The right to be left alone.

The UN has a huge list. Check the source link.

It was best said by our foundling fathers,"Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." Each society, environment and culture has their own choices of human rights and that follows with the given freedom of WILL.

Every human should have the right to freedom of speech.

Luckily I live in Canada, where this right is exercised and encouraged.

No. Rights are human, political/social fabrications. There are no universal human rights, although some will claim there are.
