my sons' school have described him as a human calculator?

he is brilliant at maths aged 7,, have many of you intelligent mathematic people got this from an early age? he loves maths and I have no clue of the sums, way to hard for me!

I think its wonderful that your son has the gift of numbers! way to go little man. Is the school willing or able to so some programs with him so he is not bored with school? maybe there are kids in the school that struggle that he could work with?

I suck at math so am hoping my daughter can do it on her own when she gets to that point otherwise I am gonna look stupid. lol.

Yea I was like that, but not at age 7, maybe 9 or 10. I used to be able to come up with the answer before the other student had time to punch it into the calculator.

Actually...people *can* be a "human calculator". There are many cases of savantism that presents itself as mathematical ability--ask them the cube root of 37101 and they will tell you 33.352511185235...

This condition is related to Asperger's Disorder and/or autism and is more prevalent in males. If high-functioning, then they retain the ability to interact with others and speak, but they have can do things that are impossible for a typical person.

My colleague's wife is a principal of an
elementary school and she told me
that the most problematic children are the
ones without interest in anything at all.
If your child has something for math, I would
say it's perfect. That's a way of life.

That's good that he's good at something like math. Keep it that way! No one in my family but me are good at math. Nothing to be worried about
