During my 1st 2 semesters in community college, I didn't take it seriously at all, which was completely my fault. I've finally decided to take it seriously for once but now I'm worried that I won't be able to get into the schools I would like to go to. What can I do to improve my chances into getting into good schools?

Have you done any repair work / damage control for the bad

OK, this sounds similar to trying to repair a very poor credit report. You have some major damage control work to do to establish your credibility on your next school effort.

Step 1. Get all of your past course work together along with the college catalog (which give you the detailed course descriptions) and copies of past transcripts.

Step 2. Get the catalog for the new college you want to attend…and make sure you now the details of the course you must have to get your major (though the previous semester's work is probably mostly general education requirements).

You now have the information on what you have done so far….and what will be expected (or what you will need to do).

Repeat classes from the past semester in which you have any grade less than a "C". But check on the policy of repeating classes…the key is that if you repeat, and you complete with a higher grade, does the newer/higher grade replace the former one? In most cases it will.

When you do repeat the classes….I would suggest taking a lighter load…even just one class each term…at least for the first term. This gives you time to focus and concentrate to get the one class done very, very well. And this success helps rebuild your credibility with the college and counselors.

If some of the classes were challenging, you might want to take the class online (for free as a refresher / practice at a website like http://learnthat.com/

good luck in your efforts. I hope this helps.
