2 minutes is too long.

Make sure the sponge is free of bubbles and make sure it is wet, place sponge microwave for 20 seconds.

Or

Fill the sink with 1 cup of bleach and water soak sponge and other counter wiping towels for 12 hours. Launder the towels, wash the sponge in the dishwasher.

If you put a wet sponge in the microwave for 1 minute everyday it will kill off any bacteria which is what makes it smell.

If you have stains in the sponge pour a little bleach on it and then rinse it well in cold water. DO NOT put it in the microwave after putting bleach on it or it will catch on fire.

It will, if the sponge is wet. Basically it will boil the water int he sponge which will kill any bacteria.

Let the sponge cool well before you try and touch it.

If you keep the door to your microwave closed while it is cooling , the steam will make the inside of your microwave a breeze to clean too!, just wipe it down inside!

Throw it in the top rack of the dish washer. The microwave will work for pure sponge material, not man made. You will be releasing too much steam in the micro.

Waste not, prefer not. And particular, a great many germs are killed at this style of temp. yet then, many at the instant are not. and likewise, this is often pronounced that an merchandise to be sanitized be held at a intense temp for as much as half-hour.

No idea: I never tried it. I throw mine in with the wash when I'm doing a load of hot laundry with bleach.
