What must a company due to become an ISO company?

What is the advantage to the company of being an ISO company?

You have to get a certified ISO assessor to come to your workplace and study it, then you have to do what they recommend. I don't know if there are any advantages. The companies I've known are proud of it, but it doesn't seem to impress anyone.
