I cannot believe the price for renting a fetal doppler now. I rented one three years ago and it was less than $15 a month. I got it from HearTones. Now that SAME exact model is $25 a month. Why would they need to raise prices $10 when I know it is the same one I rented three years ago? Does anyone know of a more reasonable price for a base model. I found one at Stork Radio for $20 a month. That is the best price I have found but I have a huge problem paying more for the same thing now.... sorry just ranting but wtf?

I know!! The prices are outragous. I don't understand why you need a doctor's consent to listen to your childs heartbeat either.

I'm currently renting one from hearbeatathome.com. I got a special $38 for 2 months. I think it's back to the regular $48 for 2 months now. I'm so happy with it though. I listen to the heartbeat every morning and have since I was 10 weeks along. When I return it at 16 weeks I'll be feeling the baby move by then, or soon after.

Supply and demand. More women are renting them so they figure that they will make more money, and also with more women renting them, they have to make more, and pay the employees to make them. It's all a huge circle. I have told women to save the money and not buy or rent these machines because if they are not used right it causes stress when they cannot find the baby's heart beat.

because anything that becomes a craze always increases the price.
