If I am unable to return to my former job because my doctor put me on a permanent partial disability with restrictions (and my current employer does not have a position for me based on these restrictions).............Then, does my current employer have to make up the difference in pay if I take a job with less money per hour? My lawyer said something about this but I didn't completely understand her.

Workers Comp should make up part of the difference, then they bill your old employer for the money they pay out on his behalf, so indirectly the answer is yes.

I'm not sure, but it might be a good idea for you to apply for SSDI (social security disability insurance) & ask about their retraining program. Your employer may have to modify their building & time schedules to accomodate your disability in compliance with the federal laws of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). Application info is available at http://www.ssa.gov

Not trying to insult your intelligence sweetie, but in order to understand what exactly your atty did say, you need to call her and simply ask her to clarify it for you. We're dealing with a relative's WC. case now and very similar circumstances. Call your lawyer and ask her.

yes they do for up to a specific time period. for example if you are a doctor and can no longer do the work and have to become a janitor at the hospital they won't continue to pay doctor's wages forever - check again withyour attorney!!
