You could call your local mall and see if their stores ever do fashion shows. I emcee the ones at my local mall and they use girls about 3 - 4 times a year. You don't get paid but most of the time you can keep one outfit.

You could also have pictures taken and then take them to a talent agent (in the yellow pages) and ask if you can work locally. Unless you live in L-A, it will always be just on the side.

An agent would also give you an honest assessment of your look and whether it would work. I don't think you have to be tall or skinny to model toys and childrens clothing.

Oh my gods. Hunny, do me a favour and just stop before you get yourself worked up. I am now 17 and i did modelling from when i was 7 until i was 9 or 10. I really enjoyed it, but i didnt have to be thin and tall. The agency will put you in the category they feel is best for you. The agency i was with had children, pre-teens, teens, younge adults, adults, and seniors(40+). I would say you would either be in teens or pre-teens depending on how old you looked for your age.

Also, modeling is not really a risky job. When i did it, i never flew to Paris or New York. I did runway shows in malls and i had a few opporunities to pose for catalogues and flyers. It isnt all magazines and tv commercials.

I wish you luck with your search, and if you wish to ask me any more questions, feel free to email me or reply to this.

P.S. i didnt suggest any agencies because i dont know where you live. I'm in the Hamilton/St. Catharines area of Ontario.

ok well first of all your 12 not twenty so most modeling agencies dont expect it to be your career and most of the time its the parents that force them or just some wannabe model whos hideous! but thats not everyone i for one am gorgeous im not concieted i have at least 2 people every day say something about my great looks no lie and ive been asked to model by agencies all the time but im really busy i go to school of the arts and dont have the time now but next yr ill be a freshman highschool like normal a rated hs so ill calm down and im gonna start modeling then! so pretty much get opinons if you just think you have it and people seem suspicious when they tell you do it then dont do it all you'll do is get your feelings hurt.

and for girl 1 that is for women like late teenagers to twenties so dont listen to her for your age like 5'4-5'5 and like 90-105lbs

the average model is 5' 8" and weighs 108 pounds. if you are under that height- or over that weight you will have trouble finding jobs.

no, modeling is something you need to learn- you have to have a degree in it and be persuing it as a career. otherwise you wont have a portfolio, know what to do, or impress the clients.

I dont think you can do it as a side job-its a hard bussiness

Sadly that is not a news report but a G. Will opinion piece. And opinions are like a**holes, every ones got one. He went to spain to find an obscure professor at a university to diss Obama. Here are 2 from the US, follow the links for more that will debunk Mr. Will's claims.
