it does not affect your length of life at all. Normally, side effects are minimal, you can have scar tissue which can cause discomfort, infection is a possibility as with any proceedure and there have been cases, although rare, of the tubal ligation reversing itself and the woman becoming pregnant. These should all be addressed by your doctor in office visits before the actual surgery.

If you are considering a tubal, then you should definately look into the lastest permanent form of female birth control. Check out www.essure.com or do a search for essure systems

TIEING YOUR TUBES IS NOT THAT BIG A DEAL THESE DAYS BUT BE SURE YOU DONT WANT ANYMORE KIDS BECAUSE YOUR TUBES ARENT JUST TIED THEY ARE BURNED SO YOU PROBABLY WONT GET PREGNANT AGAIN. TAKE YOUR TIME AND MAKE SURE THIS IS THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR YOU. I HAD ONE 4 1/2 YEARS AGO AND I WAS 28 YEARS OLD I HAD A DAUGHTER THAT IS NOW 11 AND MY SON IS 4 1/2 WE HAD OUR FAMILY A BOY AND A GIRL SO WE WERE SURE WE DIDNT WANT MORE. I DONT REGRET IT

Why are you having it. You and your partner don't want kids anymore? Fine. Tubal is major surgery, vasectomy is done in the doctors office and he can run home if he wants. If he cares about you, you know the answer.

Anyone giving the thumbs down has got to be a guy.

There is not many side effects - I suppose a small chance of infection as there is with any surgery.
