The original song that was featured in the film "Midnight Cowboy" was sung by Harry Nillson. I'm not completely sure of the spelling. It may also be spelled "Nilsson". But he is the artist who performed it.

There was another version that even pre-dated that one, by a band called "Spanky and our gang", but if you're looking for the film version, that would be Harry.
