After reading a question on YA about the McCanns which attracted 40 plus answers of which the vast majority could be deamed as 'anti' McCann, somebody retorted that there is a different opinion (ie pro McCann) in the 'Real World'.
I personally can only name one person I have spoken to over the last 5 months who believes that the McCanns are 'totally innocent'
Is the 'real world' like YA, or (ironically) the 'Mirror Forum' where the majority could be considered 'Anti McCann' or is it more like the views of Lori Campbell of the Sunday Mirror where everyone sympathises with the McCanns (ie 'Pro McCann') and anyone who dont is a 'sicko' ?

Amazing - thats like saying that nobody should have an opinion about anything. A free society is about having opinions and the right to express them even if others do not agree.

Taz - 'innocent until proven guilty' only applies to the courts (including libel). The public, the media , Politicians and at times even the Police make up their own minds and chant it out very loudly

Most people I speak to believe there is something definitely not right there and that their demeanour is suspicious especially compared to other families in the media who lose a child.
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and flies like a duck, just because it doesn't quack like a duck, doesn't mean it isn't.
In fact I know of only 4 people who don't believe the McCanns are hiding something. However, they also believe the only answer is a shadowy Bond style international pedophone ring is responsible.
All of them however, cannot believe that any ANY parent in their right mind would think of leaving their children especially 3 very young toddlers alone in any situation, let alone the incredulous idea of leaving them alone, unsecured in a foreign country.

How can any of us be sure? No I would not have left my children but as has being said lots of times before there is a difference between making a mistake and committing murder. At times I wish I had strong feelings whether for or against the McCann's. However, I read so many confilicting reports that I really don't know. Yes! at times I sway from one feeling to another but then I remember what like the media is. Surely I am not the only one who sincerely doesn't know and cannot make up their mind about this?

The problem with the UK press is that they have chosen to publish THEIR opinion, predominately pro-McCann, and represent it as PUBLIC opinion. There is a vast difference between the two, but as far as the press are concerned they really believe they have the God-given right to suppress all opinions which differ from their own. I guess the same is true of the Portuguese press who have taken an opposite view of the McCanns. Thankfully we now live in the internet age which allows ordinary members of the public to publish their opinions.

In my opinion there was always some suspition from the beggining. The English news papers told us the appartment was broken into then later told us the door was unlocked. Also how on earth do you get 2year old twins and a 3 year old bedded down and sound asleep in around an hour, while you are rushing around getting changed to go out for the evening. All without sedating them in anyway, that is what seems so unreal to me.

Each week a different story emerges.Kate did say quote "They have taken her "unquote. Why did she say this and use the plural THEY. Do they know who took Madeline are they or have they been mixed up in some sinister plot.Should this be the case the child could still be alive. It is now time that pressure is applied to them both and their close friends in particular those in Portugal. For Gods sake we are talking about a childs life here.

Everyone I have spoken to about the case thinks they are guilty of something right from the start. Why go to the trouble of hiring the very best lawyers if you do not think they will have to work hard to clear your name.

I don't know anyone who thinks they are innocent and I can only assume from the 'real world' people, that those are the ones that practise abandoning their children!
I cannot understand anyone who has children that would condone the abandonment of children.
The only sickos are those who are 'promoting' child neglect and supporting such perpetrators...

I go on the Mirror too, and I find it absolutely anti McCann, whereas here there is a bit of a balance.
I went on hols recently when Kate and Gerry were made Arguidos and feeling round the pool was they all "knew" they were guilty from the outset.
sorry but that was the general consensus.

My brain hurt by the time I read that full question! Obviously I havent spoken to everyone in the 'real world' but the people I have spoken to think they are guilty either of her murder or neglect.
