I think Detroit will make him the Closer but he's not going to be one of the best in the league. He still hasn't proved that he has recovered from the injury to his finger. If he can't throw 100mph he can't pitch as if he can get it that high on the gun. He doesn't have the location yet to compensate for losing his velocity.
Georgie, you have proven that you know nothing about the Detroit Tigers, if you knew everything you would know they weren't going to make the playoffs two weeks ago. You use very little evidence, if any at all, to support your arguments in Yahoo Answers. When someone puts up a valid debate with you instead of accepting the challenge you block them from answering your future questions.

The Tigers will not re-sign Jones. They have been grooming Zumaya to be the closer of the future. He is young with electric stuff. As long as he stays away from "Guitar Hero", then he'll be just fine and he will be the closer!!

I would say that Zumaya will be the opening day closer for them, now if he stays healthy is another issue. They might want to just keep Todd Jones, to a 2-3 yr deal.

So and So. Zumaya is a dominate relief pitcher, but may need to be a little more consistant for the Tigers to trust him in the 9th inning.

I don't think so. Maybe in a couple of years. I really think one of the changes they will make this off season is try to find or sign a closer.
Until Zoom Zoom gets better command of his pitches, not now.
