This is a somewhat hazy area and the numbers are not cast in concrete. It is based on market capitalization generally, although that is in itself a somewhat dubious criteria. Mirco is about less than $500 million in capitalization. Small is less than about $2 billion. Mid cap is less than about $10 billion. Large cap is greater than $10 billion more or less. There are more micro cap stocks than all others combined in the U S.
