If you don't live alone you shouldn't be cleaning alone. That's what I tell my 4 kids ages 3-13. If they don't help they don't eat as I will be using cooking time to clean. I only has to do that twice and they learned real quick. I figure, in the real world you have to get a job and do it well in order to make money to buy food. It just makes sense.

I immediately rinse the dishes and put them into the dishwasher. When you let them stack up in the sink it takes a lot longer. I also recommend doing laundry everyday. It goes by a lot quicker to put one load away than to let it pile up and spend hours on it. Perhaps if your family will, you can all work together?

As the mom of a one-year-old who works full time and also runs her own magazine ... some things just don't get done or don't get done as soon as I'd like. We do our best to achieve balance. Priorities have to be made. It's tough.

Good luck.

The husband has to do 50% and you don't have to be too clean. Kids should do as much as they are able. Everybody picks up what they drop, puts their dishes in the dishwasher, washes their own clothes (when they are teens).

If you have kids, give them some responsibilty to help you out. According to their age, some possibilities are: washing dishes, mop/sweep the floor, wash/dry clothes, vacuum carpet, take out garbage, etc. etc.But the rest is just organization.
