I recommend them all. But in particular I would recommend As I Lay Dying. Faulkner is brilliant and that is a truly spectacular book. I would also recommend The Awakening. The Crucible is a play. Walden is essentially a non-fiction memoir. You might find Melville and Edith Wharton tough reads. Daisy Miller is a great story, too. Sad. Choose As I Lay Dying. You will not regret it. And if you need study notes for it, Oprah.com has the best. Pax - C

I loved loved loved The Awakening - it's a short read, easy to read and has a great story. I also love As I Lay Dying, but it's a real struggle to read. The Crucible is also a great play.
