Apparently it looks as though Ahamadinejad was not so welcomed as others thought. He was surrounded by protesters, booed and given a very unkind welcome by the University president. What do people who did not want Ahmadinejad to speak think of this?

This is what happens when you let extremists talk long enough. They hang themselves with the microphone cord while the crowd laughs at them.

I don't understand the logic of our President not debating this guy in full view of the world. Ronald Reagan debated Gorbachev on the public stage as well as behind closed doors which only helped the fall of the Soviet Union in the long run.
Bush should've debated him and in so doing publicly destroyed Ahamadinejad's illogical rhetoric for all the world to see. If properly prepared there is NO WAY Ahamadinejad could win any debate even against Bush. It just strikes me as another example of this president's cowardice and incompetence.

I think some of the Alumni got ahold of Dr. Bollinger and screwed his head back on right. If this University President had not been put in his place, the outcome would have been different. This University President made many Americans very unhappy with his know-it-all, I can fix-it-all, attitude as if he speaks for the United States Government. He and the Speaker of the House fell off of the same turnip truck. Let General Petraeus at him for a few rounds. I bet the General will make him respect our young men and women in the military.

I think it was the best thing that could have been done to expose him to Western societies with a free press, but a complete Propaganda coup for Ahmadinejad.
I admit that I would not have given him a forum to speak, but then i would have been weak!
The INTRODUCTION was more than i could have hoped for!, and I appologize for all the comments i made when the decision was made to allow him to speak. I doubted Americans.
My younger brother is finally a college student after much proding from me and is so ignorant of all that is going on in the world i doubt he even knows the speech took place. We need the youth of America to understand contemporary History as well as "ancient" History. The US has such a short History when compared to anywhere else besides Australia.
We have a patriotism that we think is unrivaled. Consider a country that has a History of ...
Stony I just read your post. He lied to college students. Do you want him to lie about greater matters of state when he makes accusations against Bush that not only include Bush but also prior regimes such as those who supported the Shah, who was no friend of the average Iranian?
OH Henry(HeHe) in Iranian television he was given a standing ovation only(no BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO's)
Arckitekt, The Holocaust was a horrific event in human History. I have met tattoo'ed people that were at Aushwitz! Do you need to see the GAS CHAMBERS and CREMATORIA for yourself? I suggest if you need more proof go visit Germany and Poland, they are there on display for you to see. How can anyone deny this happened?
Could it be for a hatred for a race that was evident in Hitler?
Oh did you know the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem spent WWII as a guest of Hitler? research it. Hitler trained Muslim religious leaders on how to hate the Jews(they didn't need much encouragement read Mohamed's last words) and on the techniques of sabatoge and most importantly PROPAGANDA
Liberals Love America(It hurt to write that) Prove it by organizing a Liberal group to support the end to terrorism, now in Iraq while we have a chance to do it on foriegn soil! Instead of leaving now and letting them regroup and come up with a plan to attack us and then defend our predictable response.

I think cons are making such a big deal out of this to divert attention from the failures of the Bush administration. Their entire mannerism is full of fluff and hot air. They have nothing else so they blame liberals for Ahmadinejad. It's amazing how deep the stupidity goes in cons these days. It's also amazing that they have absolutely no faith in education and critical thinking, even the most intelligent of schools in the country. They would rather follow Bush like sheep without question.

He came, he spoke, he was bood. Was it just a few minutes ago that I read someone's post about how people were applauding him? In his country Bush would have been treated the same way. What was he to expect hugs and kisses? Some folks politely applauded him but when it comes down to it I really doubt he was believed or will be heralded as a great speaker or great anything for that matter. At least not in the US. Personally I think much more has been made of his visit than ever should have been made.

Did you watch the whole thing live? Most of the students applauded him. Yes, there were a few boos here and there but applauds were quite overwhelming.
I think that the Columbia president did an excellent job.

I don't agree with what he stands for, but they really should've treated him with more respect. He is our guest and in America (unlike his), we have freedom of speech. The Persians were a great people back long ago and they are still around.
