Feed in small portions about twice daily. Overfeeding will dirty your tank and hurt your fishes health.

A one gallon bowl is no home for any goldfish. Common goldfish get 12 inches or more and fancies can get 10 inches. The goldfish will not survive in a one gallon bowl very long so you won't need to worry about feeding it. For now I'd only feed it 2 times a week and change all of the water every day. It really needs more water changes than that but if I told you to change the water every 4 or 5 hours you would think I was crazy, but that's really what you will have to do if you want your goldfish to live.
Your goldfish needs at least a 10 gallon tank with filter and airator. A 20 gallon would be much more suitable. Goldfish are big fish.
The pet store that sold you this is in the wrong. Take the goldfish back and get one male betta instead. Goldfish are supposed to live many many years, yours is not likely to live a month in that condition.
What happens is the goldfish slowly gets sickened by its own waste products in a home the equivilent of a high school locker. It dies sufficating in its own poo. Not a nice way to go.
I so wish these pet stores would stop selling people this. The goldfish bowl is a myth.

first off, you need a much bigger tank NOW, before you seriously harm your goldfish. they produce so much waste and grow so large that they need a 10 gallon tank at the very least. If taken care of properly, you could have a 30 year old goldfish that measures a full foot long or longer. So please do your fish a favor and move him to a bigger tank or give him to someone who can. Once you move him you only need to feed him a pinch 1 or 2 times a day. they can go 2 weeks without food, and it's sometimes good to give there stomachs a rest like that to prevent them from having problems, but once a day is best. good luck with your fish!

well, i guess it's no surprise that people who say that your goldfish is suppose to be in at least a 10 gallon tank, even that they're soooo right

As for feeding, only twice a day whatever he will eat in under 2 minutes

But here is also an article, which you should really read

Hope that helps
good luck

i left my goldfish for a week without food and it survived but i would not recommend this!
Give your fish a PINCH of flakes everyday. It is important to reliase that you should NOT overfeed your fish but give it a steady balance of food everyday to keep your fish fit and healthy for a long life :D

Only once a day and be sure to change the water often but it should be water that has sat for a day not right out of the tap.

Hmm...I would say you should feed it every other day and give it 2 flakes
