well
top contributes may lose their badge if they don't answer much.....
and it's really confusing like "some" top contributes here..because it's a travel section(or supposed to) so the top contributor must know a lot about Egypt and tourism and history like sistablu and msafwat and wise heart....which i doubt it suits some contributes here....

forgot to add:like hasafer(optical only)..hehehe

As Ranoush has correctly answered, you have to be a consistent contributor.
I don't think its really something anyone should get "big headed" or boast about at all.
Yes, you can loose your "tag".I lost mine at the end of last semester when I stopped answering questions due to my study commitments and I will probably loose it again soon for the same reason.
But I really don't place a lot of status on "labels" of any kind.
There are lots of Top Contributors who have just got their "tag" by giving silly and thoughtless answers,or doing a cut and paste from a web site. That is a real pet hate of mine.
I have actually seen articles that I have written for Tour Egypt and a magazine, up there word for word against an answer I have given to a question.
It has happened more than once and I got over being annoyed and just think to myself, what an idiot if they only knew..........
I would like to think that I do my best to answer questions thoughtfully and by doing so help someone through a tough study assignment, or give them some handy advise for their holiday.

edit: There are also times when we 'regulars" just like to have a bit of light hearted fun and the Q&A's can get pretty of the track.

I'll let you know as soon I became one :-)

I doubt that I will be a top contributor here because I can't relate to all the questions posted but I don't want to go somewhere else neither because this section rules!

Well it made my daughter happy, she thought mum was so clever in here work over the pc they gave her a nice big orange badge.

But then when i stopped answering in YA Egypt for a month i lost it and now she keeps on nagging me that i am not doing my homework. (Actually it's an excuse so she doesn't do her school work).

Kids lol.

The colour of the badge is cool, but the best when you read that you helped someone and your answers were really useful. It gives you self satisfaction.

recognition is good, but you have to work hard to keep your place.
this is the trick in being top contributer .

I hope that one day in about a year I can hope to get to that high level. But you would have to know a lot and get quite a lot of points I think.
...............................sorry I don't really know how they get there it seems a long way away.
This is only my third answer!!!!!!
