If you are talking about the American Civil War, it took place mainly east of the Mississippi River. Heavy fighting occurred in Virginia and Maryland, Tennessee and stretched as far west as Arkansas and even Texas. The opening battle was at a fort in Charleston Harbor, South Carolina.

which one? And I don't think you can pin-point a specific location within a country--wars tend to range a bit.
The US had one, England had one, France has had some--I think almost every nation on Earth has had one.
