If I tortured you for days and days and you kept telling me everything you knew and I still kept torturing you would you be prone to tell me what I wanted to hear to try and get me to stop torturing you????

The U.S. government has signed International agreements not to use torture. In fact the U.S. government is largely responsible for these agreements to even exist in the first place.

How do we maintain our superiority and hold ourselves out as a beacon of human freedoms if we resort to tactics we condemn our enemies for???

To continue to just start beating and torturing for no other reason but to satisfy some sort of sado masochistic need does not yield anything. The prisoner will just shut down and you won't learn anything. The judicious use of reward and punishment as well as tricking prisoners would yield more positive results.

Another thing. The military teaches you to try to resist interrogations for at least 24 hours. That way, there is time for operational details to change, so all the information you may have is useless.

I would say it is the latter reason- the torturer wants to hear a certain something and will continue the torture until they hear what they want to hear from the victim.

i'm horrified by utilizing the anger and intolerance in both Ingersoll's words and different those who've revealed right here hostile to him. i imagine Ingersoll's language is offensive and his expertise of Christianity effortless minded, yet I also experience disgusted by utilizing the persons who experience he might want to pass to Hell. I for one abhor the emphasis placed on Hell in a lot of Christianity. there is little or no element out of Hell interior the Gospels and next to no element out of it in any respect interior the old testomony. The non secular football tournament between God and the devil in which the human soul is used because the ball created by utilizing the everyday church homes turns the message of Christ from one of affection, humanity, wish and transcendence into one of worry and hate. in spite of this, Ingersoll's intepretation of the idea of sinning hostile to the Holy Ghost is so effortless minded its superb. Forgiveness is earnt besides the undeniable fact that the Christian idea of forgiveness is depending on the concept that persons can replace. Its ironic that Ingersoll, in a unmarried breath, condemns a God which sends human beings to Hell and in yet another condemns a God it is keen to forgive sin, hence liberating them from Hell! together, he misunderstands what sinning hostile to the Holy Spirit is. If the Holy Spirit is the skill by utilizing which God manifests himself in guy then to sin hostile to the Holy Spirit is to commit against the law hostile to Humanity it is so tremendous its incomprehensible. interior the end, if individuals are going to argue over an effortless minded view of Christianity they're welcome to it. even as i imagine of the stunning sophistication and complexity of early Christian idea top as a lot because the 15thC i'm flabbergasted at how simplistic peoples' expertise of the Christian Mysteries have become... And we assume of we are the summit of psychological fulfillment? Hah!
