people love to berate you for filing for workers comp -- like its "unamerican". they lawyer works for you -- despite what they might think. tell them what they can do with their little bad attitude.

No, he does not suffer, you would still be eligible for a loss payment from your Employer Worker Comp. Insurance. And this would Entitle your Lawyer to a 1/3 percentage of the settlement. So he can't get hurt, and if he's a good lawyer he can also apply for SSDI and would also get paid from Social Security of you win the case with them.
This is all subject to the amount of the % of Loss and permanent diasability.

since work comp attorneys work on only a percentage of your settlement...yes, he is probably not very happy with this decision...but you have to follow your doctors orders.
since you will now be on permanent disability - IF you get a settlement at all - it will be MUCH smaller....so he is trully not a happy camper...and he has probably done alot of work for you and feels like it was a waste.

Might cause more paperwork for the lawyer. So what? That's what they are getting paid for. Do what you need to do regardless.
