Everywhere I read, people say Dallas can't be considered the best team in the NFL because they haven't beat any significant teams. Last night they demolished The defending NFC champion Chicago Bears. But people say... "Oh the Bears are 1-2, they haven't proven themselves a signifact team."

Let me ask you this... who exactly has New England proven themselves against? Don't say San Diego, cause their record is 1-2. Same for the Jets. And Buffalo? 0-3?

Colts have beaten 1 team with a winning record. All of Green Bay's opponents are 1-2 right now. Pittsburgh also has beaten only one winning team.

No team is the best in the NFL right now, because no one has really proven themselves. Let's have the best team in the NFL discussion after week 10.

Wow...good points and I happen to agree with you.

Of Course I also believe that any discussion of the "Best" team in the league is purely for entertainment reasons...at least until the Superbowl is played.

Personally I'm a die-hard Cowboys fan...but honestly as you and others have pointed...who have we played? At least, some put the Bears game as a 'Test' game...now that Dallas demolished the Bears, we are hearing excuses...they just don't want to give the Cowboys any credit.

A win is a win...and on the road against the defending NFC Champs...that counts for some credibility.

Of course now the Cowboys will have two straight weeks of "Trap" games...they need to stay focused on one game at a time...keep improving the defense and continue to fine tune the offensive machine. If all continues, they will be the NFC Champs and quite possibly THE Superbowl Champions for the 6th time!!! The first to 6!!!

But after 3 weeks...do we really know anything about the Cowboys or any other team for that matter?

It is too early to determine the best team in the NFL this year. Even the Cowboys (Formerly America's Team) has been in intense turmoil the past three or four seasons. Their record reflects their turmoil.
Former players and coaches like the "talking heads" on the sports networks and in the announcing booths judge the "best" teams by a much different set of standards than those that use the team's image or wins and losses. They usually watch the details- things like how the team executes the fundamentals like hitting, good tackling and how they perform as a team as opposed to a group of individuals. These are subtle differences but tends to be a solid predictor of the overall success of a team.

And it happens often that the best team on the field is not the winning team. Too many variables.

New England is the best team in the NFL...Its not just about who they're beating...Its HOW they're doing it...Complete and utter domination...

...and since you're going there, San Diego is considered widely to have the most talented team...Lets be honest...Pats fan here but LT IS the best RB in the league...Hardly anyone would deny that...So, it is stupid to question a win over the Chargers...

Oh, and BEFORE you go somewhere else involving cameras, the NFL had officials down on the sidelines, and basically ARE for the rest of the Pats season...So, don't even bother with "spygate"...

The Green Bay Packers are the best team in the NFL. They have now won 7 straight games(last 4 games last season, and the first 3 this season). They don't have a decent running back and have only 1 real wide receiver(Donald Driver), and they have won 7 in a row!! That shows you just how good Brett Favre really is!!

AFC > NFC at the moment. I know, it's cyclical and there was a long time when the NFC was the class of the NFL, but at the moment, most tend to agree that the AFC is stronger than the NFC, so they'll get the nod. But too true, week 3 is very early, but everyone thinks their team is the greatest, but I like flying under the radar.

Cheers!

Colts, Pats, Steelers... all recent Super Bowl champions. How dare you include Dallas in the same breath. Have they even won a playoff game in this century? Three good games do not make a "best" team in the NFL unless it's in January.

Well when ever they do beat a quality team the other teams record gets one loss so you cant really tell how good a team is based on this years record.

Everyone wants to be able to call their team the "best". But that's why they play the Superbowl.

You are absolutely correct! So I'm really confused on what the question is. It's entirely too early in the season to say who the best is.

People seem to confuse the best team in the NFL with their favorite team, that being said....GO COWBOYS!!!!
