Everyone is often arguing about how the US only interfere for personal interests of their own (ie. Gas)... many hating the US...

What if the US had been a more secluded culture, something like China has historically been until recently... (assume whatever reason you like) and had basically closed up their borders to immigration upon separating from the British, holding no real interests in the rest of the world. (Even xenophobic towards what would end up being Canada and Mexico).

How do you think this would have changed the face of the world as we know it today ? Better or worse ?

Never interfered with World War II; never held a Cold War with the Russians; never supported Israel; none of the major events that involved the US occurred.

pursuit of wealth has been a driving force behind the US' ruling power clique since its inception. those interests were never able nor willing to sate their greed; at best, they've backed off (temporarily) when public sentiments were outraged.
