I am going on a long trip and I don't want my neigbor or parents, who will get my mail, to see my bank account statements. Can I stop them from sending me the monthly statements or do I go online and change my address to a fake one????

What you can do, is notify your local Post office in person and asking them to hold ALL of your mail until you come back and will pick it up personally. I would also notify all of the creditors and let them know of your impending trip, so they don't think that you are skipping out. You also need to turn of your phone, stop all newpaper deliveries, and utilities, but give them the approximate date when you will be back, so the utilities can be turned on again.

get a temporary post office box. Like at mail boxes etc, the post office or UPS store...

if you change it to a fake one, i think that could backfire on you in some way. P.O. box will be much better of an option.

Well, tell your parents not to open your mail, it's your mail and if they tamper with it it's a federal offense.
