My truck looses power, when i give it more gas to compinsate for the loss of speed it feels like it bogs down. It actually feels like it slows down. I then have to floor it until it shifts to passing gear and it is then that it starts to finally gain some speed. Also I have to let up on the gas before it will shift. I've changed the fuel filter.

Check your ignition advance or any vacuum leaks.

The very first thing you need to make sure of is the ignition spark system. If all the spark isn't getting to the spark plugs, your engine will misfire under heavy load like when your going up hills. A plugged catalytic converter would limit engine power too but is a less likely problem. You might not feel a misfiring engine, but your engine's knock sensor will and can retard your ignition timing to compensate which will also cause your engine to lose power. So you need to first make sure your basic tuneup items are good before you can troubleshoot further.

Several places you might want to check:
1.) Fuel pump pressure.
2.) Compression pressure...
3.) Spark Plug.
4.) Distributor, if you have one on this car.
5.) Fuel Injectors...clogged or not?
5.) Timing.
And, last, I hope not the case, the transmission fluid or itself might developed some aging problem.

I had the same problem with a 350 in a car, it took me 2 years to find the problem, it turned out to be a bad ground wire inside the distributer.
I would check to make sure your ignition system is working well.

an easy thing to test for,
measure your spark plug wires, they should be less than 15Kohms, often a multimeter reads open when you measure a plug wire, and it will still run, just not well.

I would check the tyranny first. Does it have enough fluid in it, when is the last time you changed the fluid, gasket and filter in it. If that is fine. When is the last time you did a tune up on it, changed the air filter. It also may be a bad fuel pump.
