if you use people like etrade or amertrade, etc...
When its time to do your taxes, do they give you a file you can import right into turbo tax?
or do you have to manually type it in?

Depends on the stock broker you go with. I'm with Scottrade and when I used Turbo Tax this year all I had to do was type in my log in and it downloaded my tax information I had to double check it to make sure it matched up with the info that Scottrade sent me for that year, it was missing a few things..but for the most part if was already filled in. It's really just a matter of whether or not Turbo Tax works with your brokerage company.
