All of a sudden I'm getting a lot of calls that I don't want....sales calls - that my warranty is about to expire (just bought a brand new car w/10 yr warranty ha ha)....I put myself on the do not call list a long time ago.....what's going on now?? They DID stop for a long time. Did the law change again??

Their was a story on the do not call list on Yahoo on Thursday or Friday last week. The registary is only good for 4 to 5 years. If they have a legitimate reason to call you such as a car warranty expiring, it is legal. All you have to say to the caller is "I am not interested in renewing. Please put me on the do not call list." and they are legally obligated to stop calling you.

There have been several cases where companies do not comply and they have been sued and lost several million dollars. So keep track of who you tell to stop calling.

You also need to go out and renew your do not call list registration. The web site it at https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx

I renewed mine and it expires in 2012.

UNfortunately the DO NOT CALL list is only effective for 5 years. There was an article on MSNBC.COM last week explaining this situation. For most of us who put our names on the DO NOT CALL list the 5 years is almost up. They are trying to pass a bill to make it non-expirable.

You have to re sign up on the list. It is only good for 5 years. SO every 5 years you have to resign the list that you don't want these calls. Yeah a pain in the rear, but only take a few minutes.

The law didn't change. Telemarketers have ways around the law. For instnce, they will tell you from the start that the call is not a sales call, merely an informative message.

Registration on the DNC list expires after five years. It was started up about five years ago, so a lot of people are needing to re-register. Perhaps you are one of them.

The "do not call lists" are good for five years. You have to re-contact your state government and have your number put back on the list. It will be good for five more years.

The above poster is exactly right. Your do not call registration probably expired. Go to donotcall.gov and re-register.

Best of luck to you.

Talk dirty to them, they will stop calling, worked for me, I would ask them bizarre questions about what they were wearing etc. It creeps them out and they stop.
