i really need help me for my homework in maths please help!
1)divide £1000 in the ratio 4:3:2:1
3)consider a cube of side 2 and a cube of side 3. what is the ratio of their volumes?
4)what is the ratio of ponds to pence in my pocket?
5)divide £750 in the ratio 1:5:1?
8)a stereo worth £460 is reduced by £82.80. what is the reduction as a percentage?
9)what is the percentage increase that takes £590 to £752.25?
10)if i invest £500 in a bank account that pays 4.5% compound interst per annum, then how much will that initial amount be worth in 10 years?

please help if you can even if it is just a few questions, write the number so i no which it is?

1)first add the parts:

4+3+2+1= 10

divide the whole by the sum:

1000/10= 100
then multiply the answer by each part:

4*100= 400, and 300, and 200, and 100

check by adding the results and you get 1000 back.

3)cube with side 2 = 2*2*2=8
cube with side 3 = 3*3*3=27
ratio of 1st cube to second cube = 8/27

4)since a pound is 100 pence then pounds to pence is 100 to 1, no matter what you have in your pocket, this ratio has been fixed by the queen.

5) like number 1
1+5+1 = 7
750/7= 107.14

1:5:1 = 107.14:535.71:107.14

8) 82.8/460 * 100 = 18% reduction

9) 752.25 - 590 = 162.25 increase

162.25/590 * 100= 27.5% increase

the formula is
amount at end = principle * (1+rate)^years
amount at end of 10 years = 500* (1.045)^10
a calculator shows that comes out to:
776.48 pounds.

Hey Jessica, I'll be glad to help you but at least I want you to understand these for your future ok?
1. Whenever you see something like this just sum up the numbers first: 4+3+2+1 = 10.
Then divide by what you got: 1000/10 = 100
And now split the proportions - that's all:
10*4, 10*3, 10*2, 10*1 =
400, 300, 200, 100
And indeed if you sum-up these you'll get exactly 1000.

3. What's the volume of a cube? - it's its side to the power of 3 right?
One way is to just compute:
V(a) = 2 x 2 x 2 = 8
V(b) = 3 x 3 x 3 = 27
and then just do 27 / 8 = (3 and 3/8)
But you could also do just the ratio of the sides (3/2) to the power of 3 and get the same result.

4. Your question lacks info!!!! what is that?

5. Apply the same technique as i showed you in question 1 - you can do it by now!

8. Let me ask you a simple question - what is one percent, in general? - every ONE PERCENT as a unit is exactly the ratio of 1/100 or 0.01 - that's all it is. In other words it's a ratio, multiplied by 100.
What percentage is 15 of 100? - that's easy it's 15% - how did you get to that? - You did 15/100 = 0.15 and times 100 = 15.
Alright - so do the same here!!
82.80/460 = 0.18 --> time 100 = 18% Get it?

9. If you got (8) then let's try it. Only there is one thing to understand. Here we want to know the ratio between 752.25 and 590 - NOT THEY OTHER WAY - if we did 590/752.25 this would answer "What's the percentage of 590 of 752.25" - here we want "What's the percentage of 752.25 of 590?"
And yes - 752.25 is more than 590 so guess what - we are going to get something that's bigger than 100% - make sense?
So: 752.25/590 = 1.275 --> times 100 = 127.5%. Now they asked you what's the INCREASE - the answer is: 27.5% because 100% was our original value.

10. So you put 500 first, then after a year you'll have 500 + (500*4.5%) = 500 + (500*0.045) = 500*1.045. And I intentionally leave it like that. why? because this is true of every year to come!
So after 10 years you'll have:
500 * 1.045 * 1.045 * 1.045... ten times like that
