Received a $14,000 local check Friday for some overseas merchandises. Checked with my bank and was told 2-3 business days is required for the check to clear. Asked my bank on Wednesday and was told they did not received any notification of NSF so we wire transfer the 50% deposit to the overseas supplier. The following day Thursday we received a call from the bank, the check has bounced!

Is there anything we can do to collect on the bad check?
Material is on order and delivery will be in 5-6 weeks.

Try to cancel your order if you can. If not, try to find another buyer for the goods. Or, contact the original buyer and tell them what happened and ask for a replacement cheque and hope that it's an honest mistake.

Sounds like to me that you have been ripped off. That money you wired overseas is history.- You will never see that money again. And as far as the bounced check is concerned, if your bank gave your provisional credit for that check but funds were not available and the check bounced, that provisional credit will be debited from your accout. Now you are out the amount of the check plus the 50 percent you wired overseas. YOU HAVE BEEN SCAMED!
