I am 19. When I was 3 weeks old I had my kidney removed because it was multicystic/polycystic non functioning. I think I may be pregnant, and I was just wondering if anyone knew if that could hurt my pregnancy?

Your kidneys do work harder during a pregnancy but it shouldn't be too big of an issue. Your doctor may tell you to ease up on some foods and get enough water and give you a couple other suggestions to make it easier for your remaining kidney but I don't think you're automatically at risk for major problems. Just try to follow the recommendations and watch for warning sings they give you.

Having only one kidney should not affect your ability to have a safe and normal pregnancy but your Dr may monitor you more closely just to be safe.

I'm obviously not a doctor, but I wouldn't think that having one kidney would affect whether or not you can have a successful, healthy pregnancy.

It could make you a high risk, but there are lots of factors to take into consideration. Your doctor will make that decision and even if they do name you high risk, that doesn't mean that you will experience any problems. Good Luck!!

Having a vagina and being really fertile on both sides is what it takes.
