Prime Minister you bloody americans, Brits don't have Presidents. He was knighted, an author (which got him a Nobel Prize in Literature). When the Vichy government took over France de Gaulle talked to the French people via BBC Radio, a move that needed Churchill's support as the British Cabinet was against it (politically it was a very bad move, allowing a resistance member to speak about a legal nation, luckily it also resulted in the French resistance and the destruction of the illegitmate legal government of France). That partially seems to capture Churchill's character, doing the right thing to win the war at the expense politics. Another good example would be his famous quote when Hitler attacked Communist Russia (Churchill being a strong anti-Communist) "If Hitler were to invade Hell, I should find occasion to make a favourable preference to the Devil,". When your not too bored a quick read of the Wikipedia article on him and some of the more notable sources is probably a good idea.

Somebody must know something because he was voted the greatest person in English history. Doing research on something you haven't chosen yourself IS boring; and although your discoveries may not interest you, you will develop the skill of detecting the difference between what is important and what is not. That skill is useful in every aspect of life, and at all stages of life.
