Don Mattingly, and before that was "the Gator "Ron Guidry, Willie Randolph, then before was Graig Nettles, Thurman Munson, who was Captain when Reggie joined the team which is one reason it irked him so much when Reggie said he was "the straw that stirred the drink."
And then you need to go all the way back to Lou Gehrig.
Before that was a guy named Everett Scott, who followed the Babe, Roger Peckinpaugh and then the first one, Hal Chase.
