I don't know what idjit told you to use adaware to remove this... it is basically wht's called a PUP (potentially unwanted program)... it's not a virus, not a wor, not a trojan, etc... it's a program that does :

Dialer.Generic is a dialer application that can be used to access some services by dialing high-cost numbers using a modem.

Here's what mcafee says about it:

Porn Dialers are applications which give the user access to a list of long-distance phone numbers for use with a pornographic "service".

These applications may show a window upon being run initially which will prompt the user whether or not to continue and install or use the modem to dial the long-distance phone numbers. If this window does not appear initially, it will generally appear after a system is restarted, if the porn dialer copies itself to a startup location. These windows generally feature pictures of scantily clad women, which may appear unexpectedly once a system is restarted.

Even if the user chooses not to continue, system changes may still be made:

Files may be copied locally

This is usually to a "Program Files" sub-folder with a name based upon the name of the company whose "service" is being used
Files may be referenced in startup locations
These references may be in places such as Startup folders or in the registry Run keys
Shortcuts may be created on the Start menu or on the desktop
Additional registry keys regarding the dialer application may also be added

The detection of this type of file is not automatically activated.

Instructions on Enabling/Disabling Detection and Removal of Potentially Unwanted Programs

You need to be running a version of norton that has security RISK detection... if so, you would update the virus definition files, close the modem connections, and run a full scan which would detect and remove it.

If you don't know how to use these programs then you probably shouldn't listen to people telling you to use them since you have no idea if they are good and even good programs in the wrong hands can kill a computer.
for instance, go to a command promtp and type format c:\

If you don't get satisfaction with Norton then I suggest McAfee.
As long as you have security suite from a reliable vendor and keep it properly configured <<< and automatically updating then you shouldn't have a problem. (As long as you maintain good browsing habits too).

Download a-squared Anti-Dialer - Free for private use

"a-squared Anti-Dialer provides a complete defense against Dialers. Scan all files on your harddisks for Dialer behavior using the Dialer scanner."

Free at:
http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/antidialer/

It should not affect you as long as you do not have a dial-up internet connection through a modem.

I suggest you run Adaware2007 and I would also run Spybot Search and Destroy.
Both are available through Google.
