12 week scan....?

Question

How was your 12 weeks scan? what could you see? Have got mine monday, am so excited, will the picture be good?

My partner cant wait for pic hes away at war so im hoping pic will be good for his sake, as hes missing the whole pregnancy

At 12 weeks you won't be able to see a whole lot. You will be able to see the heart beating and that's pretty cool.

I've had lots of scans throughout this pregnancy (I'm 35 wks) and my fave pics are from the 12weeks scan. We saw everything very clearly. They will usually measure the baby's thigh bone and sometimes head circumference to asses due date. We saw the whole baby at our 12wk scan, it was lovely. They were even able to 'zoom' in to see more detail so we got a good view of baby's face in profile. It has a lot to do with the quality of the machine that is used though, when I was pregnant last year I had my scans at a different hospital and their ultrasound machine was somewhat outdated and we didn't get any good pics until 20wks. If you don't think the pics are great you could always go for a private scan in another 12weeks or so, some places even give you a DVD.
I'm sure your partner will cherish your scan pic, whatever it's quality.

Congrats, I feel your excitement! My 12 week scan pic was amazing, really clear, everyone was so surprised. Just make sure your bladder is really full (i didn't go to the toilet for like 4 hours before scan). Also I hope you get a nice sonographer, mine was lovely she talked me through the scan so I understood what bits were what!

I hope all goes well for you and then you'll have your 20 week scan to look forward to, even more amazing!

My 12 week scan was better than my 20 week scan. as you could see the full baby but my 20 week scan the baby was a bit big for a good picture. I hope it go's well

Get ready, it's the most amazing thing you'll see! My husband and i were so shocked that we could barely talk cos of the lumps in our throats. I think up to this point it's not really real ( if you catch my drift) cos you cant feel anything and you arent really showing yet but when you see the baby moving around on the scan you will be amazed. Make sure you ask for a few copies of the photos.

With my daughter the scan was very clear, saw hands waving at us, and she was jumping around, we had a brilliant pic. When I went for my 12 week this time, bless little babe, as it was taking a nap, and we got a amazing picture of its face. So we are very lucky. Good luck its very exciting.

my 12 week scan was amazin good luck hunni you can see arms n legs and some features yr 20 week scan is the best though hope all goes well good luck with the birth av just had mine he's 5 weeks old now xxx

you dont normally get a pic of your scan untill your 20 week scan....the 12 week scan is just for checking the dates and to see if you are having a multiple birth,,,you do get to see your baby though..but its not very clear...all the best with the rest of your pregnancy xx

got mine fri!! my 2 friends were 12wks and got great clear pics but one was only 10 weeks and pic not that good. hope u get a good pic for ure man he deserves a little joy!

your getting an ultra sound your 12th week and there is nothing wrong? wow, your lucky. i have to wait till 20 weeks to get mine, and only because the doc thinks i am to big, so he wants to be sure of the dates. but on the 12th week, i am not sure what you would see, but you shouldn't be able to tell if its a boy or girl yet. have fun! and good luck!
