What would we have to go through in Pennsylvania in order to have custody of me a 16yo guy to my aunt?

If i can get my parents to agree to it, how would i go about getting custody signed over to my aunt?
she has 4 kids already. I want to know what the process would involve and how long it would take.

If i cant get them to agree to it, what would i have to do to go to court to get custody to my aunt?
I need out of my house i cant take how my parents treat me any longer.... My aunt already agreed to take me in, but i need to get my parents to agree also. Either that or take them to court.\
What would it take? What would it involve? How long would it take?

Best thing to do is have your aunt go to the court and file a motion for custody. This will cost her around $100 or more. The court will then set up a court date for her and your parents to go to at that point I would have your aunt explain to the court that she would be willing to take custody of you and that you are the one that came to her. I would go to the court with your aunt and ask to speak with the judge yourself. The process could take a few weeks to a few months it really depends on how your parent might react to the situation.

Are you being abused or neglected. Are there illegal activities going on in the home. If you want to become divorced from your parents, I don't know what it takes. Look up Child Protective Services or Department of Social Services in the blue pages of the phone book. It would either be under the city or county part of the blues pages of the phone book or you could try looking it up in yellow pages on line. I don't have answers, but maybe the offices that oversee such things would have some answers. Be truthful when you call them. Have the police ever been called.

Why go through custody stuff? Just have your parents agree that you can live with your aunt until you are 18. Then you are free to do whatever you want.

If they agree, it is easy and would not take very long.

If they do not agree, most states (perhaps all) would require that your parents be proven unfit. Probably not going to happen.

The only other option would be to go to a judge and try to get yourself emmancipated (sp?) If you do not know this term, it is to be considered an adult, and not under the authority of responsibility of anyone. Most states make this possible before 18, but you have to prove that you are self-sufficient and mature enough to handle it for this option.

Good luck.

your parents to give u up and they gave u life?..umm it would involve a lawyer a court appt and if they are doing something horrible and not doing their jobs as parents then theres a chance of living with your aunt. They probably will take this hard..very hard.if your gonna keep in contact with them and visit them they possibly could deal with it if ur aunt wins custody.

You would need to file a petition with the courts and present a really good reason you no longer feel you should be living with your parents.
