WWE fired Muhammed Hassan over the contreversial storyline about Islamic beliefs or something like that, dont remember, but I remember Divari was part of it as well. In my personal opinion, I think Muhammed Hassan could have became a great wrestler because he had a good height and was much more built than Divari, Divari is just useless and sux real bad..

I totally agree with you. And the worse part about it is that Muhammed Hassan (Mark Copani) DIDN'T WRITE THE STORYLINES! He's not even from an Arab country.

It was politics. WWE just needed to blame someone.

Yeah... that's the wikipedia answer, but it really came down to incredibly sucky timing. The knife across the throat maneuver that Hassan did was during the video-taped beheadings that were going on at the time. The skit also had Davari being martyred. That really didn't set well with anyone. It was wrong, it was over the top and there was no one who watch who wasn't offended on some level.

Davari survived because he wasn't the main antagonist. Hassan has a great potential, but he never was really into the whole WWE scene seeing it only as a stepping stone.

Both wrestlers should have been kept onthe WWE Roster, not just Daivari.

The Hassan character was an instant heel character (obviously). The WWE didn't fire the Iron Sheik during the Gulf Warso they should have kept Hassan. I would have moved him over to OVW if I felt it wasn't cool for him to be on television at that moment. His release was a shame.

With all of the negative reactions to the publicity stunt, the WWE was going to keep Hassan off of TV, so he asked to leave instead.

Read this:

- WWE and Mark Copani, who played the character of Muhammad Hassan, have decided to go their seperate ways. The following was posted on WWE.com today:

Copani moves on
Sept. 21, 2005

According to John Laurinaitis, Vice President of Talent Relations for World Wrestling Entertainment, Mark Copani, a.k.a. Muhammad Hassan, and WWE have decided to go their separate ways.

Copani, who was last seen at The Great American Bash in late-July, had nothing but positive remarks about his WWE experience in recent phone interview.

“I have a great appreciation for WWE and the way they treated me,” said Copani. “Everybody took care of me even more than they ever had to. I have a great deal of gratitude for the McMahons, the people in the office and the boys in the locker room. I have absolutely no grievances in the way that everything played out. In fact, the split was very amicable. I just thought that it was in my best interest, as well as WWE’s best interest, for us to go our separate ways.”

With WWE now in his past, Copani is heading to Hollywood to pursue a career in acting. But does that mean WWE fans will never see the former Muhammad Hassan in a wrestling ring again?

“Wrestling is in my back pocket for now,” admitted Copani. “Luckily, the door was left open for a return if that is what I wish to do in the future. And if that’s something I wish to do, I know who to call.”

Muhammed Hasan (Mark Copani) left the WWE under his own terms on September 21, 2005. Word has it that he may be coming back in the WWE, but it remains to be seen when he will return.

I agree Hassan could be great, and Divari was best as Khali's manager; he matches the look better than the guy with him right now.

There was a major controversy regarding Hassan. Here's a link:
