Do you mean to tell me that if the star QB for your team was traded to another team next year that you would not like him anymore because he plays for another team?
You're being silly. I would venture to say that you are not a real fan of the game, you are only a real fan of your team. I am a real fan of the game and I love my team no matter what happens. Trust me when I say that there have been bad times :-)
However, as a fan of the game, I still have respect for player's ability whether he's ever played for my team or not. I can root for him and wish him success. There are many many examples I can give to explain this. One example: a HS friend of mine went to ASU and was later drafted into the NFL. I hated the team that drafted him but I still wanted to see him do well. By happenstance, he was traded to my team several years later. He played well there for a few years but was eventually traded as the team wanted to go a different direction for the QB position. He is now retired from the NFL but if he were still playing, I would wish him the best and enjoy seeing him do well.
I can tell that you're passionate about your love for your team and I share that perspective. For the most part, if a guy on my fantasy team is playing against my NFL team I put him on the bench to avoid any moral conflict within myself. If I have no choice but to play him, I still root for my team over the statistics of my fantasy player.

I dont understand where you get your info from but that is not the case with me.As you can see Dallas is my team and I have a fantasy team also. While it is true I want my fantasy team players to preform well each week i would gladly give that up for a cowboys victory.Besides your team can win but a opposing player on your fantasy team can do well .But when you start to root for your favorite team to lse just so you can get some fantasy points then that's just bad (unless you root for the browns or bills.)

I stick with my team no matter what. If I happen to have a player on my fantasy team that is playing against my team, then I route for my player to play well but for my team to win.
I see no harm in this. Fantasy football makes it much more interesting because you actually have an interest in all the games going on each week, vs just your teams game.

As a real fan of football and someone who plays in fantasy, you can do both. Just because you like a team but have other people on your team doesnt mean you cant root for other players. Just dont root for them when they play against your favorite team. Or they can do well against your team as long as your team still wins.

I am a Jets fan always and forever no matter how crappy they are (and we all know how crappy they can get). I love fantasy football. I love football and great athletes. I love competing against my dad who basically was my mentor when it came to sports. It gives me a reason to pay attention to the other games.
I live in Florida and obviously said I am a Jets fan. I rarely get to see the Jets play on TV and I love to watch my fantasy QB, RB, etc play.
Perfect example of a true fan that plays fantasy football. My Jets played the Dolphins yesterday. Well, I have Trent Green as one of my QB's. The only thing that mattered to me in that game was my Jets kicking the crap out of the Dolphins.

Look, it's professional sports. It's paid entertainment.
That's all it is. Anything more is in your imagination.
In paid entertainment, loyalties that may exist in amateur sports at the college and high school or even playground level just do not apply anymore.
That's why when most people see the "hard core" Steelers or Cowboys fans, we just feel sorry for the poor guy for having a low I.Q. and spending all his money making Jerry Jones's family business richer.
"REAL FANS" actually don't exist in professional sports...it's not like you are cheering for your school or your country....everyone is paid to do their job, which is to Entertain you and to get you to BUY THEIR STUFF.
