It's generally a bad idea to compete with "free".

That's not to say that all restaurants go broke because Moms cook meals, but it's a tough row to hoe. Internet porn was highly profitable in the 1990s, it's no longer easy money, because it's too easy to find free porn online.

In most smaller cities, the general taxi business is marginal or unprofitable. Unless there's something you're not telling us, your jitney isn't likely to make you rich. It probably won't even break even.

Absolutely. Keep a separate bank account for your business than your personal account. Keep accurate records (gas receipts, oil changes, tires, car repairs). Ask an accountant how much you can claim on your tax returns for auto expenses other than gas. Probably only a small percentage. Some suggestions for advertising are in school new letters or school offices, or ask if there's some way you can send a flyer home with other paperwork for each child.

What a great idea! I wish you the best!

That may be cost prohibitive, but your break even point would be low, and you could drum ALOT of business by word of mouth. That would cut down on your advertising cost. Great Luck to you!
