I don't ask too many questions, but when I do (and when it is a serious question) I usually only have to ask it once to get a good answer. Very rarely, twice.
If I am seriously seeking a good answer, I try to word the Q very carefully, and consider which category to post it in.
I might post it in two (or more) categories (as someone above me mentioned) if it seems there are different aspects to be considered (e.g. Philosophical AND Religious or Spiritual).
If I ask silly questions and get no answers, I simply delete the Q. :-))
I don't think there is any rule about this, other than not spamming, and I know that is not what you are asking about. This is Yahoo!Answers, fer pete's sake, not jail!

it all depends on when u ask. every once in a while i'll ask a couple of times in different catagories just so i can get a wide range of answers.

I ask the same question many times, and ask it over and over again...until my Mum gets it. It doesn't bother or irritate me at all. (My Mum has 'Alzheimer's)
