I haven't set up anything yet, so I'm looking for things like stat advice (especially for the Acolyte Class) and general advice for someone who hasn't ever played an MMORPG, and never really tried the RPG scene (so I wanna see what all the fuss is about! :D).

Leads on free roleplay servers will get you *that* much closer to a 'best answer' too!

Telling me about your personal experiences is very very very welcome!

Well, since two people already answered the second half of your question, I'll answer the first part.

Before you make the Acolyte, you want to know which 2nd class you're going for. Priest or Monk?

If you're going Priest, remember that there are four common builds: Full Support (FS), Magnus Exorcismus (ME), Turn Undead (TU), and Battle.

Full Support Priests usually put their points into INT (one of the most vital stats) and VIT, with a bit of DEX thrown in for cast speed. As the name suggests, these type of priests support. All their skills are helpful ones. Get things such as Gloria, Kyrie Eleison, Magnificat, etc. and make sure NOT to get Magnus Exorcismus! FS Priests are pretty good tanks, and will survive much longer than the other Priest builds if you play it correctly.

Magnus Exorcismus Priests usually put points into INT (as high Magic Attack makes the ME damage stronger) and DEX (because dexterity increases casting speed, and for a skill like ME, you'll need LOTS of that), and sometimes choose to give up a point or two of DEX to put into VIT. You'll want to get skills such as Safety Wall and, of course, Magnus Exorcismus. It's a skill that covers a certain area (I forgot the cell range, sorry) and deals holy damage to undead and demon monsters. Because they sacrifice VIT for DEX (like I already said, ME priests need DEX!), ME Priests are often very fragile. Even the Safety Wall won't do much help if you're in a mob. So make sure you have someone that can mob for you, or do what I do: Safety Wall, cast ME, drag monsters in, get in the wall until the cool time for ME is gone.

Turn Undead Priests usually put points into INT (of course), a bit of VIT, some DEX, and a good amount of LUK. Turn Undead is a nifty skill for killing undead monsters in one shot - if you're lucky. INT and LUK increase the chances of you getting a one hit KO. This build is usually used to reach level 99 as fast as possible so people can transcend and become a High Priest.

Last, but not least, the Battle Priest. I honestly don't know much about these guys, so I won't give the basic stat break down. But basically, battle priests are KINDA (not really) like monks - just with better buff skills.

Monks

There are many types of monks too. However, I don't know much about this class because I've honestly never played one. However, if used correctly, monks will prove to be a very deadly class. I suggest you go to sites such as roempire.com (look in their forum) to figure out what builds you can base yours on.

Good luck, and remember, in RO, there aren't really any "you have to add this this this for your stats'. Really, the point is to have fun. Try to make your own build! You never know how successful you can be.

Well I'm probably not considered a regular, but here's what I'd say: 1: Never ask why Atheists are in R&S. Just do a search if you don't understand, it's been asked so many times. 2: Always be polite and respectful of the other members. Just because you don't believe the same thing doesn't mean the other person is stupid. 3: If when you type in your question and it comes up with a list of questions with the exact same opening, don't ask it. 4: Always use Spell Check 5: Never use chat speak 6: Come here to learn and share, not to make fun of others. 7: Enjoy yourself!

I suggest to play a private server with lowrates that mock the IRO server, because.. on iRO, once you punch your stats in, you can't change them (well, you can, but for outrageous amounts of money). I started playing Ragnarok Online on a private server that allows you to change different builds, to get one that satisfies your playing strategy.

I have to lead you to this indirectly, because I don't have a direct link where I am.

Go to http://www.shoujoai.com one of their MAJOR advertisers, is for a free RO server with excelerated experience. There should be lots of banners on the site. I signed up for my RO account through them.
