He hasn't done anything to qualify himself as a bad head coach, let alone a top ranked one.
Now he was a great offensive coordinator.

Schottnheimer (spelling?) took a team that had only won 6 games in the two seasons before he arrived and left at 14-2. Marty builds winners, always has. "Uncle" Norv is the kind of coach that gets replaced. As a offensive coordinator, he does a fantastic job, but he is no NFL caliber head coach.

Nathan W, get your facts straight. Winning in the playoffs is difficult. Look at some of the winningest coaches and they're playoff record. Parcells, Dungy, Shanahan, and Holmgren did it with Sims, Manning, Elway, and Farve. Still, they're playoff records aren't that far above .500. Schottnheimer had the likes of first year starter Brees and Rivers, some guys named Tony Banks, Elvis Grbac, and other second rate nobodies.

Hiring him may be a dumber move than getting rid of Brees...oh WAIT IT IS THE DUMBEST MOVE IN THE NFL THE PAST DECADE!!! It makes the Jets hiring Rich Kotite in the 90's look like a intellegent move. They have taken the most talented team in the league and made them a useless bag of garbage! The GM has bought in to his own hype as a genius!

It's typcial of the NFL to dust off and recycle old coaches, no matter how bad their lifetime won/loss record is.

No. He's done plenty that should get him banished as a head coach.
