Many journalists are less respectable than snake oil sellers.
If they feel that way they should move someplace else.
Maybe they should go back to the country where their ancestors came from.
STUDY: JOURNALISM STUDENTS CHEAT THE MOST
27% of journalism students cheat, and they cheat more than business majors
http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/06_06/c3970008.htm
"That distinction belonged (ahem) to journalism majors, 27% of whom said they cribbed answers. The most honest group? Those in the sciences, where 19% reported cheating on tests. The results come from surveys conducted over the past three years by Donald McCabe, a management professor at Rutgers Business School and founder of CAI."

Would you prefer to have open heart life and death surgery done by a surgeon who was an American first and then a surgeon? When his scalpel cuts a fraction of a milimeter off the mark and he sews up your dead body while he hums God Bless America, your widow and orphaned children can take comfort in your patriotic death .
I happen to prefer to read the news written by people who take their profession seriously. If I want to read patriotic propaganda I know where to go for that, but it isn't journalism. A professional journalist has the duty to tell the truth as best he can(which is not to say that he always does).
Why invite a perceived enemy(your word, not mine) to a chat?
Well,Alexander the Great learned more about all the enemies of Greece and Macedon by listening in to the friendly chats of the Persian emissaries to his father's court than he ever would have had he only listened to the vox populi in the streets and barracks.

The journalist was trying to make a point that when it comes to journalism that he is going to be unbiased. If he looks at the story from an American point of view he could be biased and that is not good journalism. I applaud him for the courage to report honestly and fairly. There seems to be so little of that these days. In all other ways I am sure the journalist in question is very much an American.

A good reporter should be non-biased and a-political. The problem is that they aren't. There are no journalists left in the media. There hasn't been since Cronkite. They are sensationalists and nothing more.

This is sad and I have heard it many times. There was a time not long ago when reporters considered themselves Americans first then reporters. How times ahve changed. Then again there was a time when Americans supported America over tyrrants like Hitler, Castro, Chavez, Arafat and so on. Times have changed and not for the better.

I think what that would mean is that the journalist feels that he must put objectivity before any pro- American spin he might put into the news. And that's the way it should be.

No I don't agree. What's would be sick is journalists who pushed the agenda of the government with more loyalty to their country(government) than to truth and fact like in the former Soviet countries.
O wait you guy's already have Fox.Nevermind.

This 'chat' has not been friendly.
Bollinger is really handing it to Ahmadinejad.
Otherwise, the US is served best by having unbiased reporting.

It is very very wrong. No american journalist should be reporting on things that could put our nations security at risk. They arent journalists first, they are ratings seekers first. These socalled journalist put ratings about national security and they shouldnt be getting any of our support. They dont care about getting the truth out. They just want the best story so they can get all the attention for themselves.
