It's because the State Department didn't want to cause an international incident over something trivial as entering the country. It is the same reason that illegal aliens are allowed to have jobs, have the Mexican Embassy tell the State of Texas and the news media what to do concerning education, health care, etc., and they yell the loudest when anything is done to stop their flow into the country. If the State Dept. had told Ahmedinejad that he couldn't come into the country, he probably would have sent another battalion of suicide bombers into Iraq, Israel, and other places as punishment, since at least 75% of the insurgents in Iraq come across the border from Iran and Syria. The vast majority of the ones killing US soldiers in Iraq are not from Iraq.

Cat Stevens is ducking a criminal charge and doesn't have the firepower of Iran. The two just aren't equal.

Stevens has been branded as an islamic terrorist sympathizer, regardless of what the singer claims to actually be. His conversion to islam along with his perceived political viewpoints and alleged affiliations with islamic radicalism will not soon net him a place on the U.S. welcome mat.

The U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security can't afford to permit him into the country and then keep track of his movement, which they are required to do, given his status.

Ahmadinejad however, will be watched from the time he enters American airspace for virtually every minute until he leaves American airspace..... and beyond. We know when he will be here, what he will be doing and when he will be leaving.

Cat is DANGEROUS. A imminent threat to world peace. Scary. There are at least 30 CIA agents around the clock shadowing him and listening to his phone calls. I bet, Condo, Cheney and Bush are Briefed daily about his whereabouts in closed sessions.

He probably sings better. That last piece of crap Cat put out was worthy of permanent entry denial.
