Buttered toast only lands buttered side down, because the distance to the floor ensures it will rotate something and a half times - i.e. buttered side down.
Mythbusters got pretty much 50/50 when dropping toast from about 25 feet up, released edge downwards. Amazing :-)

Technically speaking, there is no front or backside (unless it is a heel) until you put the butter, jam, or other spread onto your bread, toasted or otherwise. So whichever side you choose to spread upon is the side that you automatically designate as the frontal toast.

well i butter the left side actually, as im facing the toaster i always pull the toast out and lay it flat on the side that was facing the right, which means i actually butter the left, so yes there is a logical answer to your question lol

Against the side which is towards the middle in the toaster and is a bit more burnt than the other side... I think it's a front side I wouldn't want to eat anything that has its back turned! =)

I like my toast only done on one side, so it's not to hard for me...I butter the front (toasted) side!
