I am a full-blooded, patriotic American citizen. Born & raised in the good ole' U.S.A., I take pride in the freedoms that have been afforded and defended for us. I in no way support racism, "scare-rism," or terrorism.

As Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad makes his way to Columbia University this afternoon for this much anticipated interview, we are hearing how despised this man is, coupled with comments admonishing him for his visit to the U.S. in the first place. In case you didn't know, he was denied access to Ground Zero to lay a wreath on the Twin Towers site.

Yes, he hates Israel. Yes, he believes the Holocaust didn't exist. Yes, he supports the old Khomeni's regime of Muslim conservatism. By all conventional American wisdom, he is way out in left field.

Now that he is in America and wishes to establish peaceful dialogue, aren't Americans acting hypocritical regarding "free speech?" If Americans can protest war and curse Bush, can't Ahmadinejad speak?

I don't understand why Ahmadinejad is here speaking at one of our American universities. Who invited him? Does he think he will be able to influence the students to his way of thinking? Freedom of speech is an American right. He is not an American.

Free speech is a right bestowed upon US citizens. Other countries dictators, especially terrorist sponsoring ones, do not fall under the umbrella of US constitutional rights. How can you state he wants "peaceful dialog"? Just because they're not physical but words does not make them peaceful. Words carry a lot more weight than you realize. He imprisons his own people who speak out against him. He kidnaps & imprisons peaceful, non-militant americans in his country and holds them captive under false, made up charges, and we're supposed to let him come to our country, speak his mind, and let him go? As a matter of fact it is Ahmadinejad who is acting hypocritical.

We have the freedom of speech to protest the Iranian nut case too. That Dean at Columbia said he would've hosted Hitler too. What get's me is that Jim Gilchrist(an American) was attacked on stage at Columbia. Where was freedom of speech for him.

No, free speech exists for Americans, it is our constitution, tyrants who seek to kill us don't get that curtesy, he isn't seeking a peaceful dialouge, he wants apeasement.
