This story begins at a racist school in Jena, Louisiana. A black young man ask at a school assembly if he could sit under the "White tree". Why should he need to ask in the 1st place? The principle said "Yes". The next day 3 Nooses were hanging from the "White tree". Blacks were confronted about sitting there. None of the accused white students were expelled for the nooses. It was just a "prank". A schoolyard fight broke out. Six black student were being faced with attempt murder charges for beating up a white student due to this matter. That student walked away with scratches and attend a party or something later on the evening. Hanging a noose from a tree is a threat to a black person in my opinion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zwcj3RQcyuO&NR=1 or view it on youtube JENA 6 update or democracynow.com

You have to understand that the white students who beat the black kid at the party were not charged.Secondly there are no state laws in louisiana that make "noose hanging" a hate crime, this statute has to be changed.
Since the "noose hanging " is not considered a hate crime the white kids were not charged
Thirdly the young white man who pointed his shotgun at the three black kids in the "gotta go" store should have been charged with "assault with a deadly weapon" or "public endangerment" but instead the black kids were charged with "theft of a firearm","public misconduct" and "robbery"
for wrestling the weapon out of his hands and handing it over to the police.
I do believe that the jena 6 should face punishment but I say "misdeamenour battery" for all of them and the same charges for the white kids who fought at the party
The judicial system is set up to provide prefferential treatment to whites. That is the palin and simple truth that many whites do not acknowledege, they go by "perceptions" about blacks and they act accordingly in their subconsciousness.
Nooses should be hate crimes, calling someone the n word is inciting confrontation.
If justin barker was calling those black kids the n word before he got knocked out, that is inciting a riot, clear hate speech, both the black kids and justin should be slapped with misdemeanours

My reply to jesla girl below me:
In the jena community the mainly white school board, considered hanging of nooses a "prank",how do you suppose that black kids woill get them to understand that it was not a prank, that is not accetable under any circumstances to do that...if they had no avenues to challenge that behaviour, what should they do suffer in silence?

Second reply to tesla;
so what did you want six guys(with previous records )to do if they are called the n word by one white guy, when they know that NOTHING will be done if they tell the teachers, school board or the cops?
Do you want them to tell him,"please ,don't call us the n word anymore,we are not********s,
Is that what you want,Im sorry but if any white person every called me the n word in public,God help them and I am sure there is NO black person that will just walk away.
There are black people fighting for all of our freedom and it is most certainly not for whites to treat us any way they can,and hang nooses when they feel like it.Yes the black kids should be punished but so should the whites and ATTEMPED MURDER!! give me a break. Why should black people have to ask where to sit and where not to sit?

"Hanging a noose from a tree is a threat to a black person in my opinion."
So, only black people were ever hung with nooses? You need to grow up. The white kids were not charged for hanging the nooses because it is NOT A CRIME. The DA said that himself, being as he searched for a crime to charge them with. If black people have a problem with that, they should take it up with the state legislature. However, beating a man unconcious and then STOMPING on him IS a crime, and when someone (in this case, 6 someones) continue to beat an unconcious individual, I'm sorry, that is attempted murder in my book.
Reverse the situation and tell me what would have happened if it had been 6 WHITE students stomping the hell out of a BLACK student. Would there be rallys and protests in favor of freeing the white kids? Hell no, there would be rallys and protests by the black community to keep them in jail.
I am by no means racist, but it's crap like this that makes me understand why some people ARE racist.
Nobody can do or say ANYTHING to a black person without it being construed somehow as racist. Doesn't matter what it is, it seems like anything involving blacks negatively is racist. Enough is enough already. Race is not the reason for punishment. CRIME IS.

Hanging a noose from a tree does refer to racial gestures, and should be dealt with in a PROFESSIONAL mannor most definitely, but that does NOT give the right for the black students to handle the situation on their own in a dangerous, life threatening fashion. Although I do believe that yes, it was wrong of the white student to hang a noose from a tree, no physical harm was done to the black students, it's not like their necks were inside the nooses. As for the white boy, he faced serious injury over something that has been going back and forth for a very long time. Blacks and Whites disputing is nothing new, and because of that reason alone, the white boy should not be treated as though he was the creater of these injust actions. Do you really think that this ALL started when the white boy tied the noose around the tree limb? No, a Black person did something before that, which lead to this incident. Im sure that Black person before this was instigated by a White person who was instigated by a Black and so on and so forth. Yes, this does need to be handled, but if you notice the Blacks do have a pattern with pushing the envelope. An unappropriate action that one does, never makes it acceptable to cause bodly harm on another person.

13% of the US population is made up of African Americans, yet well over 50% of crime that is caused, is created by the Arican Americans as well. Violence is indeed in their blood, and I am not being racial when I say that, I am merely observing with open eyes.

REPLY TO NIGERIAN NIGHTMARE:
You're right, 6 blacks with previous records had every right to beat the honkeys *** senseless. How dare that white boy think he had the right to act in senseless, stupid fashion as that of the blacks.

GET REAL!!!! What if the tables were turned and 6 whites were beating on the poor innocent black? Their would be riots EVERYWHERE! Idk I'm bothering to rationalize this. I live in a country where murder is allowed as long as it's conflicted apon by a black man. I'm sick and tired of white's having to walk around on eggshells for fear of being "racist". Take accountability for your actions! It's that simple! That doesn't soley go for black either. It goes for every race, gender, and culture. You do the crime, DEAL WITH THE CONSEQUENCES!

I don't think hanging nooses should be a tolerated practice, but its been pointed out that the nooses aren't directly connected to the beating of the white student. That is related to ongoing racial tensions. The only problem is that they are being charged excessively, charges have been brought against white kids, usually assault, which is appropriate. The black students should face similar charges for their actions. The nooses saw no charges because no law exists against it. The students who hung the nooses were almost expelled, a school official above the principal changed it to 3 days suspension.

they should be charged...think of all the emotional damage done to those students. what the hell? and why did the white students think they owned that tree? It is so disgusting that any student would have to worry about where they sit, they have enough to worry about ..i.e. classes etc. if it was a prank, then an example should be set to the offending students so this doesn't happen again. Swift & effective!!! "I see discrimination is still ALIVE & WELL. What about the financial loss to the defendant student's families. the State should comprensate for losses to the Black students. The family should sue the other families and the prosecuters, and the State for that court action.

My understanding is that only one of the 6, Mychael Bell, was even charged with attempted murder. He has already been prosecuted and found guilty. His prosecution was overturned, because the court said that he was only 16 and should not have been tried as an adult. Alot of time has passed and the other 5 have not been arrested and tried for attempted murder. That would lead me to believe that, in the case of Mychael Bell, this was more than a school yard tussle. The prosecutor can't say much, because Mychael Bell's case is still in court. But the fact that he is the only one who has been tried, would lead me to believe that he took the brawl a step further and tried to kill the victim.

If only the facts are as you describe them, then the actions of the faux reverends would make sense...and you would too. The fact is, the kid was jumped by 6 thugs and beaten down. The kid didn't hang the nooses. I want 6 thugs of any color of the rainbow to go to jail for the assault, and if it looked like they tried to kill the kid, sure, charge em with attempted murder.

I think all students involved - black and white - should have been expelled. Nooses are unacceptable. Period. Physical violence against another student regardless of the reason is unacceptable. Period. Two wrongs don't make a right. End of discussion.

I agree, why should blacks be held accountable for their actions. Only racist blacks believe that 6 blacks beating up a white guy is not a crime.

You clearly have your own version of what happend. How about adding some facts to your post? The guy was STOMPED by the 6 men. He was unconcious and they kept beating him and you're going to sit there and say they deserve to not be charged with anything???? What is wrong with you??? Last time I checked it's not illegal to hang rope from a tree...but it is illegal to beat the crap out of someone.
