It is time for all Americans to realize that racism is not confined to white people.
Besides, since (obviously) races can interbreed, skin color is no more important than eye or hair color or even the shape of your earlobe when it comes to character and decency. We are all human beings. Let's ALL start acting that way.

Although some light skinned Blacks might feel this way, I don't think that "most" of them do. My mother who is a very light skinned Black women tells me how painful it was for her that people didn't like her because she was so light skinned and everyone thought that she was stuck up. She always wished that she was darker.
I think that "Light skin is better," goes back to slavery when the lighter skinned Blacks were given the "house" jobs while darker Blacks were sent to the fields. Later, schools such as Howard University had this "Paper Bag Test" in the early days, where your skin had to be lighter than a paper bag to get in. There is a long history of lighter skinned Blacks getting the best jobs (look at TV). Therefore, some might think that they are better, or WE might think THAT THEY THINK that they are better. One phrase (author unknown) might sum it up. It goes "I am what I think you think I am."

backsliding.
you are probably a saved person like me. so what do we care? does the Lord see the skin color or the heart?
remember, this has been going on for ever. when a brown skin Moses married his ethiopian wife, the people grumbled. God knows who is not right. let us celebrate our beautiful hearts. not our skin. some people have no skin. we know people who have been burned over most of their bodies. still in pain. they would give anything to be light brown, dark brown, green...
Just let me hear someone say that they are so righteous. that is what we need to be. the scripture says that none but the righteous shall see God. not none but the high yellow. not none but the black. None but the righteous. so live on, baby. live for the Lord. all blood is blue and becomes red when it is exposed to the air. Oh, the blood of Jesus. isn't yours the same color? Peace

All races have issues with the darker of the two. Its said but its learned behavior. That out-dates anybody alive. Its hard to undue what has been taught for hundreds of years.

Because, unfortunately, racism still exists and light skinned people are treated better and paid higher. So light skinned blacks are viewed more positively by many people (consciously and unconsciously) in life and the work area, etc., thus they make pick up on it and consider themselves better than the darker skinned people of the same race.
Eventually racism may not play a part in human interaction... it is stupid it still exists. :|

well I don't wanna give an hist. lesson but here
well back when slavery was going on maters would have sex with their slaves and treat the child better b/c they had lighter skinned...the slaves were conditioned to think this way and this had been going on for over 300 years (you should read about William Lynch he was a smart man...even though his "teachings" messed up my race of ppl for many years and still counting)
The funny thing is I'm dark and I have more white men/boys approaching me then black men/boys....so sad b/c I LOVE my black men....something to think about.

I have heard the same thing among Latinos. Many of the lighter skinned ones mock the darker skinned, saying they are ugly. Awful isn't it??

No, but, as you know, others in society may allude to that. Blame Willie Lynch. I can't count the number of times I've been verbally abused and even engaged in fights because the darker skinned girls were jealous because I was lighter than they were. I got called banana, light bulb, etc. It's society's fault primarily. Don't just blame us.
